NoteMap is a new "outliner" tool from The CaseSoft Division of DecisionQuest. The new software helps lawyers work up opening statements and closing arguments, examination outlines, voir dire, and to simply think about a case as facts are gathered. Users can export or import outlines to and from WordPerfect and Microsoft Word, and can link outline nodes to external files, such as images. Lawyers also can copy and paste outlines from tools such as ECCO, into NoteMap.

Jury Verdict Research has updated its Case Evaluation Software and Basic Settlement Module, which is now available via the Internet. By logging on to www.juryverdictresearch.com, subscribers can download the most recent data and statistics from the company's 176,000-case database. Users enter case details (such as injury and liability data, medical expenses, residuals) into a template, which can then be used to calculate estimated verdict or settlement amounts, and predict success rates. Jury Verdict Research is division of American Lawyer Media Inc., publisher of LTN.
