Psion Legal Package Includes Handheld Computer, Software
PSION Inc. has put together a customizable handheld computer package specifically designed for lawyers who need to carry and access key information as they travel across the world, says the New York company.
The Psion Mobile Solution for Lawyers includes its Series 5 handheld computer; LinkWise mobile software for Novell GroupWise; and Logit, a Timeslips-compatible application, says the company. The package also includes the option to use an Internet transcription service called CyberTranscriber, developed by Speech Machines, says Psion.
The Series 5 handheld computer has a built-in suite of office applications that integrate with popular office products such as Corel WordPerfect; Microsoft Office and Lotus SmartSuite, says Psion.
LinkWise and Logit allow attorneys to access documents and mail as well as Timeslips time-and-billing software, it notes.

LEXIS Offers New Core Terms
LEXIS-NEXIS of Dayton, Ohio, has announced two enhancements to its online service.
The new Core Terms feature provides at-a-glance review of the major legal terms appearing in a case, says Lexis. Using computer algorithms, Core Terms displays the significant legal terms and phrases that appear throughout the text of a case or agency opinion, Lexis explains.
The Selected Text feature allows researchers to highlight key excerpts and search for other cases containing similar language, Lexis says. Algorithms analyze the language to determine its significant components and automatically construct a search to retrieve other documents that best match the original passage, Lexis explains.
