FARALLON Computing, Inc. announced that it has redesigned its EtherMac networking hardware and software for increased portability. The transceivers size, according to the company has been reduced by 40 percent. The EtherMac AAUI Transceiver, allows users to connect Macs, PCs, and printers with built-in Ethernet to 10Base-T and thinnet networks via an AUI or AAUI port.
The plug-and-play technology incorporated into the EtherWave transceiver permits users to daisy chain computers or printers to a single Ethernet port. Users can also apply the technology to build an eight-node network anywhere, anytime without a hub, the company reports. The transceivers plug into either the AUI or AAUI port and connect to the network, without requiring the installation of software or the setting of switches.
