A NEW PC card that is Windows 95 plug-and-play ready will turn a standalone fax machine into a printer, scanner, and copier--in addition to being able to send and receive data or faxes at 14.4kbps, according to Castelle, Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif.
Designed for smaller law firms or for the lawyer who takes work home, the Personal FaxPress 100 allows the fax machine to continue working when the lawyer's PC is turned off.
The PFP-100 prints to either the fax machine or to the local printer, and integrates the fax into a PC, making it a Windows-compatible printer, copier, scanner, and full-featured data/fax system, the company explains. The card fits into the ISA slot of PC-compatibles and incorporates two RJ11 phone jacks, which connect directly to a wall socket and the fax.
