Patent Database Available from CHI

CHI REASEARCH Inc. is now offering its Patent Citation Database on the Internet. The database, according to the company, provides two types of information: (1) data relating to patent title, inventor and ownership for approximately 1.7 million patents issued since 1975; and (2) the lineage of each patent, i.e., how each patent is cited by any and all subsequent U.S. patents.

Approximately 10 million patent citations are contained in the database, the company adds.

The database is the result of a joint effort between CHI and the Community of Science of Baltimore, and is fully searchable by combinations of all fields, e.g., key words in title, abstract, classification, assignee, inventor, and dates. Minor variations of names under which companies patent are normalized in the program making an all inclusive company search easier, the company reports.
