LAWYERS seeking to protect media and backups from loss by fire or water damage have a new safeguard in The FireCooler Desktop Media Protector, a portable, one-hour rated fire safe/media storage container. Described by SafeSupplies of Rochester, N.Y., as the first portable one-hour rated unit, the safe can fit into a desk drawer or filing cabinet.
The new safe and storage container is reported to offer the following benefits: (1) it meets new media temperature protection specifications; (2) it provides protection for media for one hour in fires up to 1700 degrees Fahrenheit; (3) it weighs only 48 pounds and contains no CFCs; and (4) it eliminates the need for Halon, a CFC, as a fire suppressant.
