MICRO DESIGN International, Inc., of Winter Park, Fla., has unveiled two enhanced storage management solutions for law firm administrators:
EZ*Express 2.0 (right) is described by the company as an alternative to HSM for Novell NetWare environments that offers an easy-to-use graphical user interface for the LAN administrator.
The software automatically manages the migration of data from hard disks to lower cost optical media and can redirect a request to migrated files without recalling the data to primary storage, thereby saving access time and source device space, MDI reports. Users can also browse or use thumbnail views of migrated data without the overhead of demigration, the company adds.

SCSI Express Version 2.5 for NetWare now includes an on-disk directory, advanced administrator setup functions, ICON representation of applications and an improved graphical user interface, according to MDI.
The software is designed to speed the time needed to setup and access applications by providing on-disk directory capability and administrator setup of applications, according to the company.
The software stores application directories on the hard disk, eliminating the need to scan all directories, and saves time when initially booting the system.
This, according to MDI, allows the systems administrator to setup applications for all or a specified number of workstations while working from his or her own workstation.
