DDI*Law Uses 3 Coding Levels

A NEW TASK-BASED billing software program that incorporates the Uniform Task Codes developed by the American Bar Association, the American Corporate Counsel Association and Price Waterhouse has been released by DDI, Inc., of Niles, Ill. Designed to be used by the law firms and the in-house counsel of companies served by outside counsel, the new software, DDI*Law, incorporates all three levels of the coding structure into its billing, budgeting and structuring program.

With up to three levels for analyzing time, DDI reports, a firm can make the system as simple or complex as needed to monitor time and satisfy individual client's preferences. The system, DDI adds, offers billing by task, subcategory of task, timekeeper or a combination of these methods; blended hourly rates with the ability to assign unique rates to each task based on the client, timekeeper, class of timekeeper or fixed rate; standardized narrative for any task or activity; tracking of non-chargeable time; billing of individual expenses on a direct or percentage basis;and budgeting and scheduling by task.
