CASETRACK for Windows now includes an Electronic Data Interchange module that supports the Uniform Task-Based Management System developed by the American Bar Association, the American Corporate Counsel Association and Price Waterhouse.
The new module supports electronic billing using the ASC X12 EDI standard format, which, Economic Analysis Group, Ltd., explains, will facilitate the transmittal of invoice data between law firms and their corporate clients. The system, the Washington, D.C., firm reports, was designed to streamline the bill review and approval process and make it easier to analyze the cost of outside counsel's
services.
The EDI module includes an integrated EDI translator program that can access files from any existing value-added network that is a secure network for receiving and storing electronic messages. Incoming invoice files are retrieved, the "envelope" is reviewed to identify the sender and contents, the file is checked to ensure a valid format, processed, and a message sent to the sender confirming receipt, EAG adds.
