A NEW SOFTWARE program designed for lawyers integrates and automates five record keeping requirements: clients, calendar, time, billing and accounting, according to BytePro, Inc., of Newport Beach, Calif. Using Time & Profit for Windows, a lawyer simply enters his or her schedule into the calendar register. The program takes that schedule and processes it through billing, including printing all statements, and then places all necessary entries into the accounting system. All billing for the day, week, or month can be accomplished with the press of a button, the company reports.
Because all data is taken from the schedule of each lawyer working on a matter, without any further entry needed, all time spent on client work will be billed, the company explains. Time & Profit also has a built-in stopwatch to keep track of time spent on the telephone; writing a report, brief or letter; using a computer, or doing an activity related to a particular matter. Both the time and the billable amount will be calculated, the company adds.
