Program Monitors Online Hours

THE WINDOWS version of Online LookUp allows law firms to keep an accurate account of online usage for billing clients, internal cost control, cost justification of services, or internal tracking purposes, according to Advanced Productivity Software of Atlanta.

Online LookUp version 4.0 covers all forms of electronic research, including online services, CD-ROMs, and Internet usage, and can be used to monitor costs by incurred individual lawyers or departments, or on behalf of a client.

The program requires lawyers to choose from up to three levels of tracking information from a valid list before beginning any online research. Validation information and user identification is stored in a log file for tracking purposes, and can be exported to accounting systems, spreadsheets, and databases, the company reports. The new Windows version also has a pause feature which causes Online LookUp to pause it's timing whenever a lawyer leaves his or her desk and the screen saver is invoked.
