Office 97 Targets Legal Professionals
Law Technology Product News (p. 1, col. 1)
January 1997
MICROSOFT Corp. has set a Jan. 16 release date for Microsoft Office 97, the company's latest suite of software
applications that includes significant upgrades to Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and the PowerPoint presentation
graphics program, and introduces Microsoft Outlook 97, a desktop information management application that replaces
Schedule+.
The company says that many of the features of the new suite were designed for use by legal professions, particularly
Word 97, which the Redmond, Wash.-based software giant calls the ultimate legal word processor. Microsoft says its

IPO Prospectus Service Launched
Law Technology Product News (p. 1, col. 2)
January 1997
NEW YORK's R.R. Donnelly Financial and IPO Crossroads of San Francisco have announced the launch of an Internet-based
IPO Prospectus Service, which the companies describes as an online subscription service offering a comprehensive
database of the last three years of initial public offering documents.
The companies say that the new service is designed as a "one stop" service for lawyers and investment bankers who
require fast and easy access to a highly searchable database of prospectuses for U.S. companies. The service uses
Adobe PDF (Portable Document Format) so that the integrity of the original IPO document remains intact and is
faithfully preserved, according to the companies, including the layout, pagination, graphics, tables and charts.
The new IPO service also provides two quick-scan options, including a synopsis of every IPO and the ability to
download only the cover page of the document, say the companies. The entire IPO document is also available at the
site, they add.
