Tools for Office Management: Internet, Intranets and Extranets

ISDN Internet Kit, from Teles Corp. of Burlingame, Calif.: This complete communications package allows legal professionals and others to take full advantage of the ISDN speed of 128 Kbps, as well as simultaneous voice, fax, data and video via the World Wide Web, says Teles Corp.

Especially useful for small office/home office users, according to Teles, the ISDN Internet Kit provides the ability to manage two communications functions, such as sending a fax and using the Internet, simultaneously. Through the package's One-Step-ISDN Auto Setup, users enter the two telephone numbers of their line and the ISDN settings are automatically configured, Teles explains.

The ISDN Internet Kit includes the company's iSTAR PnP terminal adapter, special offers on ISDN Internet access, free ISDN line ordering, Microsoft's Internet Explorer 4.0 and NetMeeting, Teles' OnlinePowerpack software, the company reports.

NetEnvelope, from NetVoyage Corp. of Orem, Utah: NetEnvelope improves and safeguards collaboration over the Internet, according to NetVoyage, by synchronizing changes made to documents and notifying users of those changes. When a NetEnvelope is saved and closed it synchronizes to upload the changes; then it assigns each user's change a different color to avoid confusion, NetVoyage explains.

Internet EZ Search 2.0, American Systems of Fort Worth, Texas: EZ Search 2.0 checks Internet search engines in a fraction of the time it would take to search them individually. The software also allows user to perform complex searches without having to learn Boolean logic or complex schemes for expressing "and/or" logic, American Systems reports.

Search Express/Legal 2.0, from Executive Technologies Inc. of Birmingham, Ala.: This version of the company's scanning and full-text retrieval system for litigation support includes the capability to search the product's database over the Internet or via an Intranet using standard Web browser technology, ETI says. Combined with the product's CD-ROM publishing module, which allows data to be transferred to disc, the added functionality means that a lawyer or paralegal can quickly find what they need wherever they are--in court and at home, hotel or office, according to the company.
