TABS III's 9th Edition Offers Pre-Bill Tracking
SOFTWARE Technology Inc. says its new TABS III Version 9, a 32-bit Windows billing system, contains numerous improvements to help legal timekeepers reduce the tedium of record keeping.
The program is designed for small- and medium-size law firms, advises Dan Berlin, president of STI, which is headquartered in Lincoln, Neb.
The upgrade includes a new Pre-Bill Tracking feature, allowing lawyers to monitor the status of individual draft statements, final statements or work-in-progress reports, says Mr. Berlin.
New Statement Templates include pre-defined billing formats for draft and final bill statements, he explains.
Another new feature, Client Manager helps lawyers customize and launch the client-related functions they use most often, all from the same window, STI notes.
The revised edition also includes improvements to graphing, text macros, task-based billing, report suites, templates and more, STI says. TABS III now integrates with the PalmPilot handheld computer, the company adds.

Authority Offers Drafting Package
AUTHORITY Trademark Law Interactive Drafting System is an automated document assembly forms program that includes more than 475 documents for filing federal trademark applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, reports Matthew Bender & Co. Inc.
The program utilizes HotDocs 5.0 software platform to speed document drafting, the New York company explains.
Client matter management tools allow practitioners to customize the system by entering key information and data only once,Matthew Bender advises. The information then flows automatically to relevant fields on related forms and a client database allows for easy organization of client matters and trademark filings, it says.
The collection of forms and documents reflects the current state of trademark practice, says the company. The service also provides links to checklists, drafting guidance and analysis, says the company.
