Icron Systems has introduced new USB Ranger products, that incorporate its ExtremeUSB technology.
The line allows users to extend the range of USB connections to more than 300 feet, it says. Users can place any USB-IF compliant device up to 100 feet away from its host computer, it says.

Keyspan, of Richmond, Calif., is now shipping a High Speed USB Serial Adapter, designed specifically for Windows PCs.
It offers a simple, reliable way to connect serial devices to the USB port, and is ideal for use with modems, digital cameras, ISDN terminal adapters, PDAs and other devices, says the company.
The adapter supports data rates up to 230 Kbps, and features simple "plug and play" installation, reports Keyspan.
It is compatible with any Windows 98 PC (including laptops) that has an available USB port, says the company.

ORB 2.2 GB USB Drive, from Castlewood Systems Inc., is an external SCSI drive with a USB interface.
It can be used with PC or Mac computers, so long as they have a USB connection, the company reports.
Castlewood also offers the ORB 2.2 GB Internal EIDE Drive, which mounts into a 3.5-inch low-profile bay. It can store up to two hours of MPEG-2 compressed video, 20 hours of MP3 compressed audio.
