Heller Launches Financial Group
HELLER Ehrman White & McAuliffe L.L.P. has formed a financial technologies group, headed by P. Michael Nugent, former general counsel (technology and intellectual property) at Citigroup.
"Banks and other financial institutions have always been among the largest users of information and computer technology," observes Heller chair Barry Levin,citing growing concerns and legislation in the areas of privacy, encryption, and security.
The new practice group will include technology, corporate, and litigation attorneys. It will tackle software and business method patents; mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures; electronic commerce law; taxation; anti-trust and more.

Phoenix's inData Corp., has announced a partnership with Aspen Systems Corp., (which provides litigation support services and products), to sell the inData Director Suite to Aspen's clients at the U.S. Department of Justice.

401kExchange, a Web service that offers service provider ratings, online plan proposal analysis, and other services, has announced an alliance with Capital Analysts Inc.
401kExchange will offer its services to CAI advisors and clients via a private label Internet platform.
401kExchange also announced an alliance with Larkspur Data, which provides targeted database marketing tools for financial and insurance professionals.

Sprint &
Phone giants Sprint and Nortel Networks have agreed to continue expansion of Nortel's portion of Sprint's nationwide PCS wireless network. The agreement extends and expands the existing five-year relationship.
Sprint also announced a three-year accord with Lucent Technologies, to supply equipment and services for the next phase of Sprint's wireless network development and expansion.

Monterey, Calif.'s KOM NETWORKS is teaming up with SanOne Inc. to integrate KOM's STEALTHWORX£ software with SanOne's Dynamic Allocation Manager storage system.
KOM also announced an alliance with StoreAge Networking Technologies Ltd. to integrate technologies.

New Financing
Portland's Fios, which provides electronic discovery; antitrust review; and merger and acquisition due diligence services, has announced that it has raised $10.1 million in a second round of institutional funding. Investors include Fluke Venture Partners, 3i; Banyan Capital Partners, and Velocity Capital, who join existing investors Digital Partners and FBR CoMotion Venture Capital.
Fios also announced that it has added two new directors to its board: Kevin Gabeleinof Fluke , and Kevin Scottof 3i.
