Panasonic Creates SoHo Networks

The KX-HGW200 Broadband Networking Gateway, from Panasonic Consumer Electronics Co., creates a network that connects together computers in a small office or home, and adds individual high-speed Internet access with firewall protection.

Peripherals, such as printers and scanners, attached to any of the computers on the network, can be shared by any other computer on the network. Programs or disk files can also be shared with this system, the company says.

The network can link up to 32 computers using Ethernet cables, existing phone lines or wireless communications.

Denver-based Software Intelligence has released its browser-based iTRAX software, which, the company says, is designed for corporate records centers, law practices and accounting firms. It supports multiple open windows in the Explorer browser, and lets users perform real-time record updates on their database.

Linux Certified

Overland Data Inc. has announced that its AIT LibraryPro automated backup tape library now is certified to run under the Linux operating system.

The library can be scaled up to nine modules for a maximum configuration of 8.55 TB, the company reports.

FireWire

The 75GB FireWire HDD provides up to 75 GB of storage capacity, enough to hold more than five hours of DV video, more than 100 CD-audio images or more than a mile-high stack of text documents, says LaCie of Long Beach, Calif.

The 3.5-inch, 7200-rpm desktop hard drive is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems.

Heroix Corp.

Heroix Corp. has announced that Microsoft SQL Server 2000 compliance for its RoboMon software. RoboMon SQL Server Intelligence Solution Set provides monitoring and problem solving for SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 7 environments.

It monitors basic operation, such as whether crucial services are running, says Heroix Corp.

It checks performance criteria such as CPU, I/O and memory, and replication latency.

Free disk space, database size and log file size are other components the software monitors, the company says.

SolarWinds.Net

Professional Edition 2.1, from SolarWinds.Net, is an assortment of 24 network discovery, monitoring and troubleshooting tools, to assist administrators discover the devices and configuration errors in their networks.

An IP Address Recovery tool monitors a subnet or range of subnets and determines which IP addresses are in use and for how long.

It also discovers DNS, machine type, system name and location.
