Del Sol Offers Flash Memory

Cognitive, of Golden, Colo., has introduced two new models of label printers. The Del Sol is a four-inch desktop printer that features Flash reprogrammable memory, serial and parallel ports, and an optional internet Ethernet interface, allowing the unit to be used from any LAN workspace.

The Del Sol's printhead is said to typically last up to two million inches, and can print PCX, BMP, and Raster graphics.

Its print speed offers up to three inches per second, and the unit can print 3/8 to 22 inch- sized labels.

The Easy Ethernet (e+Solutions) models are footprint desktop printers with Ethernet connectivity built-in. The units are available in two- and four-inch direct thermal and thermal transfer models.

They include Codesoft and Labelview XLT label design software and in Control network printer management software in Control enables TCP/IP, SNMP, and advanced printer configuration, including assigning print darkness, printer memory, calibration, and other settings.

LaCie has debuted two new monitors. Its electron19blue II and electron22blue II units both have 100 percent flat aperture grille tubes, which help reduce eyestrain and light reflection. The electron19blue II monitor sports a 19-inch tube with an 18-inch diagonal viewing area. It has a maximum resolution of 1600 by 1200 pixels at 86 Hz. The electron22blue II monitor features an extra-wide 22-inch tube and a 20-inch diagonal viewing area. It offers a maximum resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels and a flicker-free refresh rate of 75 Hz.

Sanyo Monitors

Sanyo Security Products Division introduces two security model monitors. The VMC-8613 high-resolution color 13-inch (diagonal) and the VMC-8618 high-resolution color 18-inch (diagonal) monitors can be mounted in a standard rack and are for industrial and commercial security applications.

The VMC-8613 offers more than 750 lines of resolution and the VMC-8618 offers more than 800 lines. Model VMC-8618 includes an Over/Under Scan Switch for adjusting the picture view. Over-Scan uses the entire physical screen of the monitor, and Under-Scan squares off the picture in a black frame, creating a flat appearance that the company says reduces eyestrain. This option is said to be ideal for a 24/7 manned security station.

Both units feature dual video inputs with selectable composite and S-video, built-in audio with loudspeaker control, and an automatic voltage selector.

The TellerScan 200 is a compact, dual-sided check and small document scanner, with a five-inch by eight-inch footprint. The unit features two separate scanning heads to scan both sides of the check quickly while magnetically reading the check's MICR codeline data. Output is grayscale or black and white. Panasonic Cordless

Panasonic Consumer Electronics Co. has debuted two new cordless phones: The KX-TG2650N and KX-TG2670N GigaRange Elite models. Designed to look like sleek cell phones, they feature champagne-colored metallic finish, says the company, based in Secaucus, N.J.

"Fashion Plate" snap-on color covers come in brownstone, charcoal and wineberry. Both models include tools to distinguish incoming calls, including a multi-color liquid crystal display that allows users to color-code their telephone director into two groups. and choice of ringer tones.

Dual Call Waiting Caller ID has the capacity to hold up to 50 names and numbers of the most recently received calls.

The KX-TG2650N model has a message-waiting indicator to let users know when they have voice mail messages to check. The KX-TG2670N includes a built-in digital answering machine that can record up to 15 minutes of messages.

Triple Play

Panasonic Consumer Electronics Co. has introduced two new "triple play" multi-function units that feature a television,VCR, and DVD. The PV-DF2700 and the PV-DF2000 include a Tau PureFlat television, a high-quality DVD/CD player, and a four-head, hi-fi stereo VCR. The units also include an FM radio and alarm clock, and have a titanium-look cabinet.

Model PV-DF2000 features a 20-inch television; the PV-DF2700 offers a 27-inch screen.The Tau PureFlat picture tube is perfectly flat, delivering a distortion-free picture. The PV-DF2700 features a two-tuner "Picture-in-Picture," allowing viewers to monitor two programs, or view a TV program and a DVD or videotape, simultaneously.
