Electronic Discovery Service indexes e-mail libraries and converts them directly to .tiff images, reports DATICON Systems Inc., of Gales Ferry, Conn. The service can index e-mail files in both field and full-text database format, it says. It is designed to work with the company's Virtual Partner system, but can deliver the database in load-ready format to all popular litigation database systems, it says.

Netscape WebMail is a free, password-protected Web-based e-mail service that offers access to e-mail from any computer that is connected to the Internet. The service includes 5 MB of storage, enabling users to store more mail and receive large attachments, reports Netscape. WebMail also allows users to flag urgent messages.

CertifiedMail.com is a free Web-based service that offers security for e-mail transmissions. Ideal for legal correspondence, stock trading, doctor-pharmacy communications, it saves e-mail to a secure server, and directs recipients to retrieve mail from the CertifiedMail.com site. When retrieved, the sender receives an encrypted e-mail message noting when the mail was opened, and a digital fingerprint of the computer, time and date it was accessed, says the company, based in Springfield, N.J.

Mail Essentials for Exchange 3.0 is an upgrade of GFI's e-mail security and management gateway that installs on existing mail servers, reports the London company.

The upgrade offers improved integration with Microsoft Exchange Server and allows user-based content checking, says GFI. It also improves remote management and configuration, it says.

IGetMail 2.0 is an add-on for SMTP-compliant e-mail servers that is designed to automate and streamline remote e-mail downloading. It systematically checks for in-bound mail and is designed for companies that receive mail from multiple Internet domains.

SendMoneyOrder.com allows users to send a guaranteed Postal Money Order via the Internet. The service can be used for online auctions, monthly bills, court fines or other money transactions, it says, up to $250. Within hours, the money order will be obtained from a U.S. Postal Office, filled out, and mailed via U.S. mail, says Energy Flow Inc., based in Santa Cruz, Calif.

Other options include an Unbounce-Able-Internet Check (up to $1,000) prepaid check, says the company, which also offers other custom mailing services.

The Pelouze Internet Postage Station makes it easy for law firms to buy postage and to mail packages, reports Sunbeam Corp., of Bridgeview, Ill.

The mailer kit includes a Pelouze Internet Postage Scale; and E-Stamp Internet Postage, which allows users to purchase, download and print postage from their PCs, explains the company.

The integrated scale communicates package weight directly to the E-Stamp software, for calculating and printing the correct amount of postage.

WorldMerge 3.4 helps law firms customize e-mails with recipients' names and other data, reports ColoradoSoft, of Littleton, Colo.

The software includes also coding to prevent use of the program for spamming, it says. Every e-mail sent contains a unique number at the bottom of the message, which allows technicians to pull the number from offending e-mail, enter it into the server, and block future mailings from that sender, says ColoradoSoft.

PostalSoft DeskTop Mailer 6.10d adds new features to its mailing and database management software, for increased flexibility and faster access to customer records, reports Firstlogic, of LaCrosse, Wisc.

The upgrade includes multilevel indexing, new default settings, additional postage discounts and more options for presorting periodical, Standard A and Fletter mail, it says.

EnvoyMail is a listserve, database and e-mail program designed to assist law firms and other organizations with information management and distribution control, says 1st Net Technologies, headquartered in San Diego, Calif.

It can be used to deliver customized e-mail, says 1st Net.
