CMS OPEN 4.0 is the latest upgrade of the time-and-billing software from CMS/Data Corp, of Tallahasse, Fla.

A 32-bit, integrated Windows-based, client/server financial application, it is designed for legal, accounting, software, communications and other professional service industries. It offers enhancements to its core accounting, records and tax compliance features. It also offers a "combine vendor history" function, to allow to merge records of two vendors; a "manual time and cost entries split" function; and a "variable rates" feature.

Omega Legal Systems has enhanced its support of electronic bill formats, for delivery of billing information to major insurance companies, audit services and large corporations. Standard electronic bill formats now available include PriceWaterhouseCoopers' LEDES system; and formats for Hartford Insurance Co., Scottsdale Insurance Co., and Bristol-Meyer, American Tobacco Co., it says. Bills in these formats also can be delivered to third-party billing audit services such as ELF, Time Metrics, LAS and Legal Guard, says the Phoenix company.
