DocuLex Releases PDF Capture 5.0
DocuLex Inc., based in Winter Haven, Fla., says DocuLex PDF.Capture 5.0, the upgrade of its document imaging software, includes a job administrator module to manage the setup of various imaging projects.
The product combines integrated scanning and PDF conversion, allowing full searches of PDF files. The files can be managed and distributed in Web-based information management systems, as well as on local or wide are networks, the company advises. A "Lite" version also is available.
PDF.Capture maintains information on project description, document and file naming conventions, image specification, scripting rules, and unique document descriptions. It supports SCSI and TWAIN scanners, simplex and duplex, and can recognize documents in 10 languages.

DPS Covers 50 States
The DPS (Document Product Systems), by Advanced Logic Systems Inc., now covers all 50 states as well as Washington, D.C., reports the company. State specific legal documents can be created, using a pull-down menu allowing users to choose a state. Once selected, documents can be prepared according to the laws of that state, it says.
State specific documents are available for estate planning, probate, corporations and limited liability companies.

Kelly Delivers Onsite
Kelly Services Inc., which provides staffing services, has formed a strategic alliance with Rochester, N.Y.-based Document Strategies Inc. Under the accord, Kelly will offer onsite document management services. Kelly will use Document Strategies' technology to offer high speed scanning and processing of documents, with search and indexing capabilities. The system archives documents into folders on a client's secure Intranet, or onto CD-ROM, the companies explain.
Kelly will provide necessary personnel, initially through its legal division (Kelly Law Registry), to service the needs of law firms and corporations in litigation support and mergers and acquisitions. It plans to expand the services to other Kelly divisions, with an emphasis on paper-intensive applications such as health care, insurance and federal and state government.

Merrill Contract
Merrill Corp., based in St. Paul, Minn., reports that its document management services unit has won a five-year contract at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, L.L.P. Initially, Merrill will provide equipment and trained personnel to manage analog and digital document files into and out of nine of the law firm's offices in Texas, Calif., N.Y., Va., Pa., and Washington, D.C.

Software Intelligence
Denver-based Software Intelligence Inc. has released an integration module for imaged files created with OTS Software's ApplicationXtender.
The new SII integration module allows its iTRAX and TRAX/Open software to classify imaged files as an electronic record, and enables users to search for imaged files. The ApplicationXtender image viewer enables users to annotate or edit the imaged text.

FastDraft
FastDraft, a document assembly program, is now available in beta as an ASP-hosted mode, reports Valeo Software (previously Interactive Professional Software). The ASP version has been released in partnership with ThinKnowledge. FastDraft relies on a database to deliver its services; users need not run a Microsoft SQL-compliant database.
