GTE Private Network Helps Investigations
Law enforcement officials and prosecutors can use GTE's Web-based, secure Virtual Private Network to share information among local, state and federal organizations, says GTE Law Enforcement Services.
The Bastille offers a comprehensive investigative database and search engine, and allows users to communicate via e-mail and chat rooms, says the company, based in Tampa, Fla. It includes analysis tools to help criminal investigators solve crimes, including facial recognition screening and incident mapping, GTE notes. The Bastille is ideal for sharing gang and drug information; suspect lists; missing or abducted children alerts and photos; sex offender data; neighborhood maps; and more, says GTE.
The new upgrade (version l.2.1) adds enhanced imaging services, more customization options and faster speeds, it says. The security system uses multiple technologies, including firewalls, smart cards with PINs, data encryption, non-routable IP addresses, audit logs, digital watermarking and security authorization levels, says GTE.
