Dell's Dimension 4300 Series Desktop

Dell Computer Corp. has released its Dimension 4300 series desktops, available in the mini-tower 4300 model, or a space-saving 4300S model.

They include Intel Pentium 4 processors at up to 1.8 GHz, up to 512 MB SDRAM at 133 MHz, and Ultra ATA EIDE hard drives, up to 120 GB on the 4300, or up to 80 GB on the 4300S.

Users choose from CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, and CD-RW/DVD combination drives, and can get dual optical drives on the 4300, or a single optical drive on the 4300S.

Both models offer 4X AGP graphics, two USB ports and a headphone jack with front access, and two more USB ports, one serial port, and one parallel port in the rear.

Available monitors for the 4300 range up to 19.8 inches, and for the 4300S, to 17.9 inches.

Pitney Bowes DL270

Pitney Bowes Office Systems Inc. has introduced its DL270, a 25 page-per-minute copier, printer, fax, and scanner. The plug-and-play units let users e-mail scanned documents as attached files, transmit scanned documents to specified folders, and send faxes as e-mail messages through a corporate network.

Finishing options include duplexing, collating, two- or three-hole punching, and multiple position stapling.

Support is included for industry standards PCL6, PostScript 3, ASCII, TIFF, PDF and JPEG, Windows 95-2000 and Macintosh OS 7.5.3+ (PostScript) operating systems, as well as Novell NetWare and Microsoft Windows NT.

Lexmark X83

Lexmark International Inc. has introduced its X83 multifunction thermal inkjet color printer, providing 2400 x 1200 dpi resolution, printing 12 ppm in black and white (6 ppm in color), and copying 10 ppm in black and white (3 ppm in color).

It can enlarge documents up to 400 percent, reduce them down to 25 percent, and make 99 copies at a time.

The unit functions as a standalone copier, a PC fax, or a 48 bit flatbed scanner, capturing at 600 x 1200 dpi resolution.

It handles standard paper sizes, envelopes, labels, transparencies, card stock and more.

Toshiba e-STUDIO28

Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. has released the e-STUDIO28, a copier, printer, scanner, and fax with a built-in 33.6 Kbps modem. The unit provides a 10 GB hard drive, 2400 x 600 dpi resolution (with image smoothing), and 256 levels of grayscale.

It offers a 1,200-sheet paper capacity, upgradeable to 3,700 sheets, and features document storage, magazine sort, page numbering, N-in-1 copying, job reservation (scan ahead), alternation and rotated output.

Toshiba e-STUDIOP

Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. announces its new plug-and-play, monochrome laser printers, offering standard letter/legal sized printing at 1200 x 1200 dpi, and PostScript3 and PCL6 printing:

* The e-STUDIO20P is a 20 page-per-minute unit featuring a 200 MHz processor, 8 MB RAM (upgradeable to 256 MB), and a maximum paper capacity of 3,850 sheets. It offers parallel and USB ports, and can be connected to network environments using either the 10/100BaseT, 10Base T/2 or Token Ring connections.

* The e-STUDIO25P is a 25 ppm unit featuring a 250 MHz processor, 16 MB RAM, and a maximum paper capacity of 4,100 sheets. It also includes parallel and USB ports, and can be connected to network environments using either the 10/100BaseT, 10Base T/2 or Token Ring connections.

* The e-STUDIO30P is a 30 ppm printer that ships standard with a 10/100BaseT network interface, and a built-in USB port. It provides a 300 MHz processor, 32 MB RAM (upgradeable to 384 MB), and a 600-sheet paper capacity.

* The e-STUDIO40P is a 40 ppm printer that also ships standard with a 10/100BaseT network interface and a built-in USB port.

It provides a 350 MHz processor, 32 MB RAM (upgradeable to 384 MB), and a 600-sheet paper capacity, expandable with a second 500-sheet drawer.

SyncMaster 957FS

Samsung Electronics America Inc. has introduced its SyncMaster 957FS DynaFlat flat-screen CRT 19-inch monitor. The unit features a 0.20 mm horizontal dot pitch, and a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1440 @ 64 Hz. Included "MouScreen" software makes screen adjustments to color, contrast, brightness, sharpness and other controls, via mouse clicks.

Sanyo VSP-8000

Sanyo Security Products has released the VSP-8000, a Sanyo Security Serial Protocol (SSP) controller.

It provides total system control of digital and analog recorders, digital and analog multiplexers, digital cameras and coaxial-controlled pan/tilt cameras, in any combination, individually, or as groups.

The controller provides RS-485 bi-directional communication of any product mix, and up to 256 devices can be controlled on a single wire run of up to 4,000 feet. Up to five of the controllers can be connected to increase the system's capacity.

Redi-Tag Reminders

Redi-Tag Corp. has announced four additions to its line of removable, half-adhesive document flags, with two pre-printed phrases, "Sign Here" and "Please Note," and two colors, orange and white.

The flags' clear adhesive area doesn't cover up text, and stays securely on the page, says the company.

The flags can be removed without damaging the paperwork.

Flags can be written on with a ballpoint pen, pencil, or permanent marker.
