PurchasePro and Avantrust L.L.C. have agreed to bring Avantrust's Passport, an integrated suite of risk management tools, to the PurchasePro Commerce Network. The Avantrust Passport enables real-time verification of a company's identity and creditworthiness through a Web interface. PurchasePro expects to increase revenues through the addition of risk reducing, value added services.

New A.B.A. Ethics Opinion: According to formal Ethics Opinion 01-423, from the American Bar Assoc-iation's Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility, U.S. lawyers can now form partnerships to practice law with foreigners. So long as the foreigners are members of a recognized legal profession in their own jurisdiction, and the partnership complies with relevant U.S. state laws, and laws in the foreign jurisdiction, the partnerships do not violate the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, it says.
