RightFAX 7.0 Is Multilingual

AVT has released new versions of its RightFAX 7.0 client software in French, Italian, German, Spanish and Portuguese.

Designed to meet the needs of growing international markets, the native language versions of RightFAX desktop software include the user interface, FaxUtil, the fax viewer, fax tray icon (Quick Fax) and the RightFAX Client Control Panel.

Panasonic KX Series

Panasonic's new KX-FP80 and KX-FP85 models are compact fax machines intended for the small office/home office (SO/HO) market. They feature IQ-Fax, which uses the Internet to send faxes, in addition to sending faxes in the traditional manner. Other features include Quick Scan that scans a document into memory and then sends the document from memory to the recipient, a 50-sheet paper tray and 20-station sequential broadcasting. The KX-FP85 can store up to 28 pages of memory, and the KX-FP80 can store up to 24 pages.

Multi-Function Machine

DocuWare 4.1

DocuWare 4.1 allows users to use any networked digital copier or scanner to input documents into their DocuWare 4.1 document management system, with the Active Import module. By monitoring selected networked digital copiers and scanners, the DocuWare Active Import module automatically imports documents that have been captured with the scanning function of a digital copier. Users can import documents from digital copiers and network scanners, scan with third-party capture software, store PC-generated documents, and automatically index documents.

Kofile and Kodak

The Document Imaging Division of Eastman Kodak Co. and Kofile have announced that the Kodak Digital Science Intelligent Microimage Scanner can be integrated with the Kofile Visual Information System for document management.

This combination of hardware and software allows users to capture, manage and retrieve images stored on microfilm, integrating them with images stored on hard disk and optical/compact discs.

Samsung Electronics

The SyncMaster 150MP and 170 MP flat-panel monitors from Samsung Electronics are 3-in-1 TFT displays that function as a computer monitor as well as stand-alone TV and video displays. They can be used with a VCR, DVD player, camcorder or any video device. With Picture-in-Picture function, Samsung's new monitors also lets users view two sources at once.

Samsung has also released the SyncMaster 770TFT, which features a 160 degree viewing angle, Sun Micro and SGI compatibility, and offers options for USB and multimedia stereo speakers, which attach to the side of the LCD panel. It is only 2.5-inches thick and eight-inches at the base. The monitor has a 300 degree tilt and swivel, which allows for viewing from any angle. The 770TFT is "Pivot Enabled" for switching between portrait and landscape viewing.

Desktop PC

Vecra ePC

Hewlett-Packard Co. has released a line of space-saving e-PCs that are "dictionary-sized" and weigh just eight pounds. The Vectra e-PCs can be wall- or under-counter mounted. Choice of processors include Intel Celeron 500/533 MHz or, Intel Pentium III 600/667 MHz.

All four models have an 8.4GB hard drive. The Celeron models come with Windows 98, and the Pentiums have Windows 2000. Also available are 3Com Etherlink 10/100BASE-TX integrated LAN solution and 24X CD-ROM.

Dell Dimension

The Dell Dimension L600r desktop PC comes with an Intel Pentium III 600EB MHz processor, 64 MB SDRAM, a 4.3GB hard drive, a 15-inch monitor, 40x CD-ROM, and 56K modem, reports the RoundRock, Texas, company.

The new Dell unit is available directly from the company through its Dell4me program.

Label Maker

CD Labeler 1028

FujiFilm CD Labeler 1028 is a new ink-jet label printer that imprints text, logos, graphics, and images on the surface of an optical disc, reports Fuji Photo Film U.S.A.

The unit measures 7.7-inches high by 10.5-inches wide by 10.5-inches deep, and weighs 8.5 pounds, says the company.

The new label maker is targeted to mid-sized firms, service bureaus and other institutional users that archive microfilmed documents and other data on optical disc, the company says.

The CD Labeler 1028 also is compatible with Windows 95/98/NT and can print on ink-jet compatible surfaces of most CD-ROM or DVD products.
