TextAloud MP3, from NextUp Technologies, is a Windows program that converts text into spoken words and MP3 files. Users can choose from seven different human voices, adjust the pitch and reading speed, add words to TextAloud MP3's dictionary and alter the pronunciation of selected words.

AlohaBob's PC Relocator 1.2c transfers applications, files and settings from an old PC to a new one, says Eisenworld. It scans the directories of both computers, selecting only the best available versions of files and applications for transfer. The program checks and updates the Windows registry, merging registry entries for the transferred applications and eliminating the need to reinstall programs. It works with Windows 95/98.

BurnInTest 2.0 allows users to check the stability of Windows-based computer systems, according to PassMark Software. The company says the software exercises all of the major components of a computer (CPU, hard drive, CD-ROM, sound card, graphics, memory, network, monitor, and printer) simultaneously, to test for endurance and reliability. Results can be saved to disk, printed or exported as a graphical image. Other features include periodic logging, a temperature monitor, timed test runs and online help.

Primark Corp. has released PiranhaWeb, which can search, screen and extract information from multiple databases. It allows users to search and screen across Primark's financial databases, such as A-T Financial, I/B/E/S, Disclosure and Worldscope. Data from other suppliers can be used as well, such as Compustat, IDC, and SEC.
