REALITY or vaporware? That's a frequently asked question when the topic turns to e-filing. There's been a lot of promises, but not that much delivered. But there has been some progress, as Tom O'Connor and Ed Siebel document, beginning at page 23. And one last minute update, as we head to press: Effective May 1, New Jersey has begun a program to allow e-filing in its appellate division.
We also examine some issues near and dear to midsize firms: Doug Caddell explores training options; Catherine Pennington Paunov tackles the tricky relationships between consultants and firms. But I suspect that Second Opinions will be this month's best read feature, as we dive into the summer travel season: It's a guide to using laptops in Europe. I plan to follow Neil Aresty's and Jake Reichenstein's advice as I head off to England for AmLaw's first London LegalTech show. I promise a full report (and, of course, lots of photos) in the July issue!
Cordially,

Monica Bay
