Barrister Sells Javelin, In*Time
Buffalo's BISPoint Technologies (d.b.a. Barrister Information Systems Corp.) has announced plans to sell its software division to Keystone Solutions U.S. Inc., a subsidiary of Keystone Software PLC of London, the companies have announced. The agreement calls for the purchase of specified assets for a cash payment of $8 million.
BIS products included in the sale include Javelan, a practice management system for time and billing accounting; In*Time, a Web-based time and expense entry package; LegalHouse, an executive information package; and On*Budget, an enterprise-wide budgeting package.

Alliances
LiveNote Inc. and DecisionQuest's CaseMap have formed a development relationship, the companies have announced. The two companies plan to link their products in the upcoming LiveNote 8.0 upgrade, they note.
LiveNote is a transcription management and real-time transcription tool that can search data contained in deposition transcripts. CaseMap allows users to organize case information, parties, and issues.

This Web-based transcript repository service allows lawyers and support personnel to access their transcripts and exhibits at any time, from anywhere, using a standard Web browser. Content and interaction of each project is managed by the eRoom digital workplace, they explain. Scheduling and tracking of project resources are managed by Microsoft Project 2000; and the project information is managed by Microsoft Project Central.

Software Metrics will provide its Printer Accounting Server software to Kyocera Mita America Inc., to be used for document security and cost management. Printer Accounting Server supports printing from Windows NT, Novell, Macintosh and UNIX, and can be managed remotely using system and account management tools. More than 60 reports are included.

Integrations
RightFAX software, from AVT Corp., has been integrated into Interface Software's InterAction, the companies have announced. RightFAX 7.0 combines network fax, IP fax, and production fax technology. InterAction users can now fax directly from the InterAction user interface.

Juris Inc. has incorporated LEDES2000 standards into its products, the company has announced.
LEDES2000 is the latest variation of the LEDES standard, designed to help firms use electronic billing capabilities.
The new version incorporates Extended Markup Language (XML) formatting, notes Juris.
The standards were developed by an industry-wide committee, that included PricewaterhouseCoopers and other participants.

Firstuse.com has licensed RSA BSAFE encryption software from RSA Security Inc. to provide its customers with security for electronic record authentication and online registration of digital files.
RSA Security's BSAFE SSL-C and SSL-J security protocol components provide security for users when registering confidential intellectual property and records directly from software programs and asset management tools.

Procom Technology has formed a partnership with Merisel Open Computing Alliance Inc., to distribute network attached storage filers, including the NetFORCE 1500, to resellers in North America. Merisel will also offer the NetFORCE 2000 series, Procom's network attached data servers.

Through an alliance, Silverlaketech.com now sells InDefense Inc.'s "Achilles' Shield" anti-virus add-on that works with other anti-virus products to protect PCs between updates. Based on InDefense's patented, Windows-based security technology, Achilles' Shield for Windows 95/98/NT/2000 prevents viral activity on a hard drive, whether the virus originates from the Internet, a floppy, as an e-mail attachment, or is hidden in a zip file.
