How Do I Stay Connected While I'm Traveling in Europe with My Laptop?

Question:

Here's a frequently asked inquiry:

I'm planning a trip to Europe, and don't have a clue what to anticipate in terms of using my laptop to access the Internet. I have two ISPs at home: AOL and Mindspring (a.k.a. Earthlink). How can I access the Internet in key cities abroad? What do I need to cope with electricity, phone lines, etc.?
