Niku Acquires Legal Anywhere
Niku Corp., an Internet management and services provider, has announced that it will acquire Oregon-based Legal Anywhere Inc. for $10 million.
Legal Anywhere, a provider of Intranet and Extranet systems to legal firms, says the deal will help them to deliver services to more legal organizations worldwide. The new service will be called Niku for Legal.

Bowne & Co. Inc., based in New York City, has acquired Record Technologies Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
The company will be known as BBS/RTI and will be part of Bowne's outsourcing unit, the company states.
RTI is an imaging, database and consulting company that provides litigation imaging for leading firms.

Internet e-business systems provider LanguageWare.net has completed its acquisition of Star & Globe Technologies Pte. Ltd., which provides Asian character processing technology for the Web. Lernout & Hauspie Investment Co. N.V. remains LanguageWare's largest investor.

The Technology Group has re-acquired Wealth Transfer Planning from the RIA Group, it reports.
Wealth Transfer Planning, a planning system for complex legal issues and document preparation, was originally created by the Technology Group and was sold to RIA in 1996. Under the current deal, the Technology Group will assume all responsibility for enhancements, customer service, and order fulfillment.

Ultera Systems Inc., of Laguna Hill, Calif., has signed two international agreements. Madrid-based SAN SOLUTIONS, S.A. will distribute Ultera's line of tape array controllers and systems to resellers in the Iberian Peninsula, while e-DataGroup Pty Ltd. will bring Ultera's products to the Australian resellers, Ultera reports.

Cincinnati-based law firm Dinsmore & Shohl LLP has established DisNet Technologies LLC, a subsidiary that will offer a range of services including Extranet hosting; document scanning and coding; and Web- and image-enabled case management applications.

Costa Mesa, Calif.-based FileNET, a provider of Web content management and e-business applications, has formed an independent business unit, Panagon eSolutions to develop business-to-business information portals and e-business applications targeted at financial services and insurance industries.
Panagon's products create links between employees, customers, suppliers and partners through interactive portals. The new unit will be based in Kirkland, Wash.
MeltingPoint Inc. has received a U.S. patent for its technology, it reports. The patent covers MeltingPoint's ability to create relationships between related information in in disparate systems such as financial, document management and contact management systems, it explains.
It also covers the technology's ability to quickly deliver information and allow users to navigate and explore information, it says.
