Baker Robbins, PeerPoint Team Up

Baker Robbins & Co. and PeerPoint Technologies Inc. have penned a new alliance agreement, under which PeerPoint's Professional Fee Manager software will be offered by Baker Robbins' legal technology consulting and implementation services.

Professional Fee Manager facilitates billing verification and cost management for corporate legal departments. Baker Robbins' technology consulting services include business-to-business commerce, collaboration and Web development capabilities.

More Alliances

Whitehill Technologies Inc. and SV Technology have agreed to integrate Whitehill products into SV's LawPort, which provides an Intranet, Internet and Extranet publishing platform designed for the legal market. LawPort is designed to help lawyers share knowledge and management information within and across practice groups and clients.

The Whitehill product suite includes the Whitehill Enterprise, which converts data from financial management systems into native word processor documents; and Whitehill Transport and Whitehill Composer, which automate data conversion into XML (eXtensible Markup Language) for presentation on a Web browser. LawPort users will be able to utilize Whitehill prepared documents.

Red Gorilla has closed up shop, shut down its Web site and turned over its current customers to another application service provider, reports CNETnews.com. The company was founded last year, and operated as an application service provider that manages Web-based and wireless applications, including its time tracking and expense application, Gorilla Time.

Officetool.com has agreed to operate the Web site so that customers can continue to use Red Gorilla's software. John Witchel, chief executive of Red Gorilla, cited lack of funding, not business, for the decision to pull the plug on the company. Red Gorilla's customers include Adobe Systems, NBCi's AllBusiness.com, and most recently, OfficeMax..

Partnerships

ECertain has partnered with six software companies and application service providers that cater to the legal community: Attorney.com, Computer Law Systems Inc., CompuTrac, Coprasoft, Needles Case Management Software, and PeerPoint Technologies Inc. ECertain acts as an independent third party, ensuring that signers of an electronic contract can be positively identified, and that digitally-signed documents can be tracked and verified.

Mergers

Sopheon PLC has merged with Teltech Resource Network Corp. Sopheon is a U.K.-based provider of knowledge management software and services. Teltech, based in Minnesota, provides research and knowledge management consulting services in the United States.

Under the terms of the transaction, shareholders of Teltech will receive Sopheon stock and cash.

The merged company will focus on providing services that support information-intensive processes in such areas as product development, customer relationship management, research and development, and quality management.

Acquisition

Communication Intelligence Corp. announced that it plans to purchase PenOp Ltd. assets, including intellectual property, certain partnership agreements, customer lists and prospects.

PenOp Ltd., which provides e-signature software, will receive in return 4.7 million shares of CIC's common stock.

Financing

Cardiff Software Inc. reports that it has received more than $10 million in new investment funding, which it plans to use for late stage development and to accelerate the sales of its new online eForms and personalization products.

Investors include DICOM Group PLC., a supplier of software and consulting services for automated document capture applications; Adobe Ventures L.P., the venture capital limited partnership affiliate of Adobe Systems; and HarbourVest Partners, a private investment organization that has previously invested in Cardiff.

The company also announced that DICOM will resell Cardiff's eTransaction product through DICOM's sales and consulting services organizations in Europe, Asia and the Pacific Rim.

Everdream Corp., which describes itself as a provider of outsourced information technology services to small- and medium-sized offices, has announced the completion of the company's third round of financing.

Led by NEThave NV, the financing totals $50 million in new equity and equipment financing.

Everdream has also announced that Hewlett-Packard Co., NEXTLINK Communications, Siebel Systems Inc., and Netopia are also forming a partnership and investing in Everdream.

Animation Technologies Inc. has announced that it has opened a new office in Philadelphia, located at Two Penn Center Plaza.

The company creates 3D animation, computer graphics, and interactive media for use in the legal, medical, scientific and engineering industries.

Its client includes Cozen & O'Connor, Levin, Fishbein, Sedran & Berman, Johnson & Johnson, and A.T.& T., says Animation Technologies.
