Law Society BC Launches Juricert
Juricert Services Inc., a new service of the Law Society of British Columbia that has been endorsed by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, helps users verify legal credentials over the Internet, reports David Bilinsky, the society's practice management advisor and staff lawyer (and member of the LTN Editorial Advisory Board).
A national program, Juricert plans to work with the government and vendors to help implement secure PKI-based legal filing. It provides "Trusted Digital Credentials" for proof of identity and professional status, to reduce Web fraud, and also allows lawyers to sign electronic messages. It currently can be used with PrivateExpresss private digital security service, to encrypt and transmit documents over the Internet using a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).

McKinstry Tapped
Nancy McKinstry has been named president and CEO of Wolters Kluwer Legal, Tax & Business -- North America. The North American unit includes Aspen Publishers, CCH Canadian, CCH U.S. Publishing, and other CCH units. She succeeds Hugh Yarrinton, who moves to the Wolters Kluwer executive board.

Martindale-Hubbell has launched its new Web site for Canadian practitioners. It offers access to The Canada Lawyer Locator, which allows users to search by lawyer or law fir name, geographic area, practice type or language. The site also features information about law schools and bar associations, courts and more. .

Red eQuorum
Minneapolis-based Quorum has introduced Red eQuorum, a suite of Internet-based services that provide legal professionals with access to document collections and project status information.
"Red eQuorum Process" accelerates scanning and coding of discovery documents; "Red eQuorum Report" offers access to project processing status and project financial reports over the Web. Reddoc.com, its Internet repository service, offers access to document data and images over a secured Web connection.

E-transcript binder 3.5
The latest release of e-transcript binder, from RealLegal.com, adds "realtime" capacity to its transcript services. It features open architecture Access database, and 32-bit functionality. The upgrade allows "batch imports" of multiple e-transcripts or PTF files (from Livenote, Summation and Concordance). RealLegal.com is owned by law.com, a sister company of American Lawyer Media Inc., which publishes LTN.

Zephra Encryption
Zephra Corp. has introduced its new encryption service, which allows users to "drag and drop" files on the desktop, for automatic 128-bit encryption.
Files are given a user key, and are locally encrypted, but can be backed up via the Internet onto Zephra's servers, reports the company, which is headquartered in San Francisco, Calif.

ProofMark software provides proof of the details of any electronic transaction, says ProofSpace of Chicago. The electronic data authentication and time stamping technology serves as a digital audit trail, verifying sender and recipient; what the document contains, and when it was sent. ProofMark uses public key cryptography.

IntraLinks Inc. has announced that investment banking firm, Brown, Gibbons, Lang & Co., L.P., has signed a long-term subscription agreement for IntraLinks' online business-to-business service. The firm will use IntraLinks' digital workspace to perform sell-side investment banking functions, including asset sales, divestitures and M&A transactions.
