New iMacs. Sleeker. Smaller.
On the heels of the release of its lighting-fast G4, Apple Computer Inc. has unveiled its jazzed up iMac. It's sleeker, smaller and faster than prior models, offering a 350 MHz or 400 MHz PowerPC G3 chip.
They feature digital video, and come pre-loaded with QuickTime 4 and Harman Kardon speakers.

FileMaker Pro 5: Apple upgrades its database program, offering an enhanced version of ScriptMaker and new security features. It uses Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) to allow access to outside databases. It features an interface that "complements the look and feel of Microsoft Office," says Apple.

Mac OS 9: The latest version of Mac's operating system adds Sherlock 2, an Internet search detective and personal shopper, (in addition to its smart disk and file searching duties). Also new: ColorSync, to manage color across input, display and output. Owners of Mac 8.5 or 8.6 who upgrade may be eligible for a rebate or special pricing, advises Apple.
