New Dell L-Series For Small Offices

Dell Computer Corp., of Round Rock, Texas, says its new L-Series Desktops are available in two models, the L400c and L500c.

Both feature a micro-tower chassis, and come with Intel Celeron processors, says Dell. They include Microsoft Windows 98, Second Edition; two USB ports; a 3.5 inch floppy drive; 128 KB integrated L2 cache, and Intel 10/100 Ethernet controller, it says. The L400c runs at 400 MHz; the L500c will run at 500MHz.

Dell also announced the release of its Dell 780 Monitor, with FD Trinitron technology. The monitor offers a "virtually flat screen," reports Dell.

IBM Adds ViaVoice

IBM has debuted a desktop PC equipped with speech recognition software, aimed at small firms. The IBM PC 300GL Small Business Series includes the company's ViaVoice speech recognition software, and is offered with either Intel Celeron or Pentium II processor. It also includes integrated Ethernet and Microsoft Office Small Business Edition software, says IBM.

Secure PCs

IBM also announced the release of its IBM PC 300PL commercial systems, which offer embedded security chips on the motherboards, and smart card access and encryption. The new IBM Client Security Solutions are designed to protect confidential files, internal networks and Internet transactions, says the company.

MONITORS

DynaFlat

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has debuted two new flat monitors. The DynaFlat 7001FT (17 inch) and 9001FT (19 inch) eliminate distortion and feature 0.20 mm dot pitch (horizontal), 1600 x 1200@75 Hz resolution and Color Solution software, says Samsung, based in Seoul, Korea.

HP P910/1100

Hewlett-Packard Co., based in Palo Alto, Calif., has beefed up its line of monitors with three new offerings.

The HP P910 and HP 1110 both feature Sony's Trinitron flat screen technology. The HP P1110 is a 21-inch monitor with a viewing size of 19.8 inches and a maximum resolution of 1800x 1440 at 80 Hz, HP says.

The HP P910 has an 18 inch viewable image, and a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 at 85Hz, it.

The new, sleek L1800 18-inch model is an LCD model that offers wide-angle viewing, it says.

PRINTERS

HP DeskJet 970

Hewlett-Packard Co. has introduced three new printers: the HP DeskJet 970 Series and its HP PhotoSmart P1000/P1100 printers. The 970 and P1100 units can print 12 pages-per-minute in black and white, and 10 p-p-m in color, says HP. The P1000 can print 11 p-p-m black and white and 8.5 p-p-m in color, it reports.They feature automatic two-sided printing; a low-ink indicator; dual paper trays and automatic cartridge alignment, says the company.

MitaCi1100

Mita Copystar America Inc. has launched its new Ci1100 desktop color/black and white laser printer.

Compatible with Ethernet interfaces, the printer can print at speeds of up to four pages-per-minute full color, and can handle resolutions of up to 1200 x 1200, Mita asserts.

COPIER/PRINTER

Ricoh Aficio 6000

IKON Office Solutions has added the Ricoh Aficio 6000 Copier Printer series to its Creative Color product offerings.

The Aficio produces 600 dpi color pictures at a speed of 10.5 pages per minute (40 pages-per-m inute in black and white), says the company.

Primera Technology Inc., of Plymouth, Minn., has debuted its EP-100 address printer, which can print mail addresses in both text and bar code. It also can include specialty graphics such as starbursts, logos, etc., it says.
